Canada Post selects popular Niagara attraction for new stamp series.
A popular Niagara attraction is being honoured with its own stamp.
Canada Post has issued a series of five Vintage Carousel stamps, and the Lakeside Park Carousel in Port Dalhousie was one of the selections.
The featured carousels were chosen for its beautifully crafted animals.
When discussing the St. Catharines landmark, officials say "Built by Kremer’s Carousel Works in 1903, this impressively large carousel boasts 68 animals and four chariots in four rows. This iconic carousel has been at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines, Ontario, since 1921. It still costs only a nickel to ride."
Other carousels honoured in the series include Bowness Carousel in Calgary, Alberta, C.W. Parker Carousel No. 199 in Burnaby, BC, Roseneath Carousel in Roseneath, Ontario, and Le Galopant in Montreal, Quebec.
