Frank Campion has sent letters to federal and provincial officials, calling for violent offenders to be kept in jail
Another statement from the Mayor of Welland, this time with an update of action taken after a child was sexually assaulted by an intruder into a home.
Frank Campion says on Thursday he wrote directly to the Prime Minister, also copied Justice Minister Sean Fraser, the Attorney General of Canada, Minister of Public Safety, and Niagara South MP Fred Davies.
He also sent a letter to Premier Doug Ford, and Ontario's Attorney General, calling for action.
The mayor says he demanded stronger bail and sentencing laws, with no chance of early release for extreme brutality.
He wants perpetrators of those crimes in jail for their entire sentence, no exception.
And, stricter enforcement of the National Sex Offender Registry.
