Jennie Stevens accused the government of selling jobs to the lowest foreign bidders as it prepares to build another bridge
Sparks flying between a Niagara MPP and the government yesterday over the Garden Skyway project.
St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens was pressuring on the government to use Ontario workers and steel in twinning the Garden City Skyway.
She also demanded during Question Period to know the cost. "Once again this government is selling out Ontario jobs to lowest foreign bidders, and still has the nerve to call it Building Ontario?"
Transport Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria accused her and the NDP of voting against many projects. "Whether it's going to be the Garden City Skyway, that's going to employ thousands of people in your riding, [speaker... 'member for St. Catharines will come to order!'] in your area, and guess what, you stood up and voted against jobs for your community... shame!"
He accused the NDP of voting against the skyway expansion.
