Ontario's opposition leader says that the decision to end the state of emergency sends a 'dangerous' message.
Andrea Horwath says that by re-opening the province without introducing new public health protections, Premier Doug Ford is suggesting that it's time for business as usual to resume.
"People deserve hope that this time, when we open, we’re opening for good... We’ve been stuck in a cycle of one step forward and two steps back. We’re paying the price because Doug Ford keeps making the same mistakes again and again."
Horwath says that the re-opening needs to be slower, and come with more protections such as paid sick days, in-workplace COVID testing and a higher capacity to contact trace.
