Says closure hurts families and businesses
New York Congressman Chris Jacobs is urging the Biden administration to open the U.S - Canada border.
Jacobs spoke at Capitol Hill yesterday, saying the border needs to re-open before August 21st.
"Reopening the border for nonessential travel can be done safely. The time for stalling and silence is long past."
In a Tweet, Jacobs also wrote that the U.S. government has "failed to act" and needs to consider the needs of families, small business owners and lawmakers.

Earlier this week, the U.S. government extended the border restrictions for Canada and Mexico until at least August 21st.
Meanwhile, American tourists can cross the land border starting August 9th.
