The idea was to put one up on Kalar Road, but Premier Doug Ford's comments prompting a review
The installation of a speed camera on Kalar Road in Niagara Falls will be further reviewed by the city.
Councillor Lori Lococo raised concern at yesterday's meeting, after Premier Doug Ford recently said he wants them gone, and will push municipalities to follow suit.
She recalled in August council approved the cameras for city roads. "Review the cost of the expansion of the automatic speed enforcement, and the cost to taxpayers if Premier Doug Ford legislates a reverse to this policy, and explore alternative tools and costs to enhance traffic safety."
The cameras will be reviewed again next month at council's meeting, after city staff look at some legal issues.
Chief Administrative Officer Jason Burgess on the premier wanting them eliminated. "A premier's comment in not binding legislation or regulation. So, we would have to see what the implications are if we did reconsider that decision of council, prior to the province coming down with rules and regulations."
