The head of both Niagara Health and St. Josephs Health Systems has joined the growing list of public figures who have gone on vacation despite the pandemic.
The CBC reporting Dr. Tom Stewart traveled to the Dominican Republic over the holidays.
In an email, a spokesperson for St. Joe's said the CEO was on an approved vacation.
The email included a quote from Stewart who says he is sorry adding "everyone should be avoiding non essential travel now including me."
While he was away a facility wide outbreak of COVID-19 was declared at GNGH in the falls.
The provincial Ministry of Health confirming Dr. Stewart has resigned as a member of its COVID-19 Science Advisory Table.
