Officials say it's unknown how many employees placed on unpaid leave.
The Niagara Region has placed an unknown amount of employees on an unpaid leave for violating its COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
Communications Consultant for Niagara Region Andrew Korchok says the exact amount of staff put on leave will be shared with regional council at some point in the future.
Under the policy, employees who refuse to provide their vaccination status, or who decline to get their shots without a medical or Human Rights Code exemption may face disciplinary measures, up to and including dismissal.
Staff members who are exempt from getting jabbed can still come to work, but need to submit to regular antigen testing.
