Niagara Regional Police releasing Operation Loud and Clear numbers this morning.
The initiative was launched in April in response to complaints of louder than normal modified or defected vehicles in the community.
Members of the Traffic Enforcement Unit along with Uniform Patrol officers from all districts of the Region conducted hundreds of traffic stops relating to this initiative, so far 229 charges have been laid.
Sixty two charges are related to no mufflers, 50 charges for improper mufflers, 72 for unnecessary noise and 42 charges directly related to loud vehicles, including three suspended drivers and three no insurance to operate vehicle.
Police say Operation Loud and Clear will continue throughout the summer concluding on September 30th with enforcement year round.
