Welland's city communications manager says no mandate expected
City hall employees throughout most Niagara municipalities won't see a return to mask mandates anytime soon.
Welland's Communications Manager Marc MacDonald tells us for the time being they're following provincial guidelines and leaving it up to choice.
"It could all change within a week. If cases spike, and we're back to the point where it's required, it'll definitely be a discussion... everything's on the table," he says.
He adds they haven't heard much from the community. "If there was a decision made to go back to masking, I'm sure we'd probably get a little bit of feedback on that. As of right now, there hasn't been a push one way or the other, to go back to masking or the comments that we absolutely don't go back."
Fort Erie and St. Catharines are following the same guidelines as Welland, whereas Burlington has a mandate.
