Chief wishes the public could see the professionalism
All Niagara regional police officers receiving high praise from the Chief and police services board for their work and professionalism.
Acting Chair Pat Chiocchio and Chief Bill Fordy spoke of an officer who said his training was vital during a December 19th standoff in Welland.
The Chief added he wished the public could see more of this. "Their profession is that they have to put a gun on to go to work everyday. They go to that call, they're back to work, talking about the value of their training, talking about the value of his team."
Chiocchio repeated how proud he is of every NRP officer.
"I couldn't be more proud of our officers, our front line officers. The safety they bring in every day to our communities, throughout the region. You know, you leave the house, and you're confronted with something like that."
One officer was shot during that standoff, but her vest saved her.
