Suspected impaired motorist rams into police cruiser while operating a truck that had been reported stolen.
Police are on the hunt for a suspected impaired driver.
Just before 7:30 this morning, officers were called to a fast food restaurant near King and Kent Streets in Welland.
Police received reports of a white GMC Sierra pickup truck was parked in the lot, and the driver and passenger appeared to be impaired.
Officers also determined the truck was stolen.
Investigators say the vehicle was found near Prince Charles Drive and Lincoln Street at a different fast food restaurant.
Police attempted to block the truck in, but the vehicle rammed the cruiser and forced its way out, heading west on Lincoln Street near Riverside Drive.
No one was injured, and there was minor damage to the police car.
Anyone who may have information about the identity of the driver or passengers of the truck, or the truck’s current location, is asked to call 905-688-4111, extension 1023300.
