#StopHateNiagara campaign launched to reduce barriers to report hate incidents and crimes.
The Niagara Regional Police Service is taking a stand against hate crimes and incidents.
The NRPS has launched the #StopHateNiagara campaign to reduce barriers to reporting hate crimes and provide further information on the difference between hate incidents and hate crime.
Pamphlets on hate crimes can be found at District front desks, as well as the Niagara Regional Police website.
The pamphlets have been translated to several languages, including French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Hindu, Mandarin and more.
Since early 2022, the NRPS has worked with community partners and the Chief of Police Community Inclusion Council on ways to reduce hate-related incidents in the region.
"The Niagara Regional Police Service takes incidents of hate and violence very seriously and will investigate them through our detective offices as well as our Equity Diversity and Inclusion Unit" said Chief of Police Bryan MacCulloch. "We encourage anyone who experiences an incident of hatred to report it to police so that it can be properly investigated and addressed. Hate has no home in Niagara.."
