You may want to limit your hydro usage during the provincial stay at home order.
As reported by CTV News, the province will not be offering off-peak hydro rates during the current stay at home order.
In January, during the first stay at home order, Ontarians were able to use electricity without needing to think about fixed or time-of-use prices.
On February 23rd, time-of-use prices were brought back.
Off-peak rates apply to statutory holidays, weekends, and weekdays from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. at 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour.
Ontario's Ministry of Energy says instead of bringing back off-peak rates during the stay at home order, the government is focusing on the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP).
Customers can apply for CEAP through their local utility, and may be able to get up to $750 for their natural gas and electricity bills.
