Emergency crews called to Niagara Falls apartment last night

The Ontario Fire Marshall is looking into what caused an apartment fire in Niagara Falls last night.

Niagara Falls Chief Fire Prevention Officer Ben Trendle tells us they were called to Drummond Road, near Morrison, to find smoke coming from a 2nd floor unit.  "During our activities in fire fighting, we discovered there was a person who received smoke inhalation and burn injuries, that person was transported by Niagara EMS to a local hospital."

He adds roughly 20 people were not able to return to their rooms in the 3-storey building.  "We're grateful to the services of Red Cross, who was able to help those who couldn't find alternative accommodations with family or friends, they were able to get them the shelter they needed for the short term."
