Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly has resigned according to multiple media outlets.
The news comes following criticism of his handling of the ongoing trucker protests in Ottawa, which are on day 19.
Police board chair Diane Deans says Sloly and Ottawa Police Service reached a "mutually agreeable separation."
Deputy Chief Steve Bell has been named interim chief.
Sloly, whose contract was due to end in 2024, has been chief since August 2019.
