Port Cares has teamed up with Canadian Tire Banks for the annual Back to School Backpack Program.
Port Cares is looking to support over 100 children in need through the annual Back to School Backpack Program.
The charity has partnered with Canadian Tire Bank's Snacks n' Sneakers program for this year's event.
The program provides new running shoes and back to school supplies for needy children.
The Niagara Nutrition Partners have also come onboard this year, and are donating a $25 grocery gift card for every household that registers for the program.
In addition, the agency's school children's lunch kit program will distribute lunch kits to families with school aged children who are registered Port Cares' Reach Out Centre foodbank.
Each lunch kit contains five days worth of lunch supplies including fresh fruit, granola bars, lunch meat, a loaf of bread, and more.
Anyone who wishes to apply for a backpack can register now, and those in-need can register by calling 905-835-1914.
Donations are also being accepted at the Reach Out Centre on Nickel Street between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
