Port Colborne Starts Health Committee

The city says the goal is to improve access to health care, will ask residents for opinions, thoughts

The City of Port Colborne is taking a step to further address health care needs, by forming an advisory committee.

The Healthcare Advisory Committee held it's first meeting earlier this month, developing an evidence-based strategy meant to improve access to healthcare services in Port Colborne.

Niagara native Sydney McDowell was elected Chair, and life-long Niagara resident and family doctor Phillip McGarry as the Vice-Chair.

The committee's mandate is to address local health needs, ensure access to services, and will bring together a mix of residents to ensure a range of voices are heard.

Sydney McDowell has many certifications, and has served vulnerable communities, while Dr. McGarry has been a family doctor in Port Colborne since 1979.
