The provincial government has unveiled plans to commence two local long-term care projects.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff announced today that Pleasant Manor in Niagara-on-the-Lake has been approved for 38 new spaces.
This, plus previous allocations for 81 new spaces and 41 upgraded spaces, will make the establishment a 160-bed home.
In addition, Oakwood Manor in Niagara Falls will get 70 new spaces, and upgrades to 218 existing ones.
Oosterhoff says that the news is good for the community.
"Our government has been taking historic steps to add capacity and upgrade Ontario's long-term care homes as we work towards our commitment to modernize the long-term care sector."
The initiative is part of the province's 2020 budget.
