The federal government has announced changes to some key benefits.
The maximum number of weeks for the Canada Recovery Benefit and the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit have been raised from 38 to 26.
Employment Insurance eligibility is also getting stretched.
Qualified applicants can now claim up to 50 weeks instead of the 26 proposed by the Liberals in September when the system restarted.
Trudeau also says that the federal sickness benefit will increase from two weeks to four weeks, giving workers extra sick leave if they feel ill or need to self-isolate due to COVID-19.
