Union members have until August 1st to accept or reject the latest offer from Canada Post.
CANADA - Voting begins today for the 55,000 unionized workers at Canada Post.
The members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have until August 1st to vote on Canada Post's latest offer for a new collective agreement. It includes wage hikes of about 13 percent over four years, but also adds some part time workers to help maintain the postal service.
The two sides have been going back and forth with contract talks for 19 months now. They have been at an impasse, but Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to step in, and put the latest deal Canada Post offered in May up for a vote.
Union officials are against the offer, so they're encouraging members to vote against it.
