Five beluga whales destined for a new home at a Connecticut aquarium will be staying at Marineland in Niagara Falls a while longer.
Mystic Aquarium says it will delay importing the whales by March 31st to give a judge time to weigh in on a lawsuit filed by an animal rights group.
Friends of Animals won a preliminary injunction last month to stop the whales from being moved, arguing the trip would cause them harm by breaking up relationships they have with other Belugas at the Niagara Falls theme park.
Mystic Aquarium already has three Belugas in an aquarium it calls the largest in the U.S.
