A judge has found two Hamilton paramedics treating a dying Brock University student in 2017 guilty of not providing the necessities of life.
Justice Harrison Arrell delivered the verdict today, saying the paramedics ignored their training during the incident.
Yosif Al-Hasnawi was shot in the abdomen in Hamilton the night of December 2nd, 2017.
He had intervened in a dispute between three other men, and later died in hospital.
The lawyer for the paramedics, 55 year old Steve Snively and 32 Christopher Marchant, argued in court that the paramedics thought he had been shot with a BB gun, and his injuries weren't serious.
The victim had actually been shot with a .22-calibre handgun.
Lawyers for the defense argued while the paramedics may have made some mistakes, it didn't necessarily mean they are guilty of criminal actions.
