St. Catharines City Council Approves Action Plan for Old GM Plant Site

The City of St. Catharines will spend $125,000 on an action plan for the old GM Plant site on Ontario Street.

The city will hire an external legal firm, to see what can be done in order to clean up the privately owned property.

Bayshore Groups bought the site back in 2014, and now lots of people in the community consider it an eyesore.

Staff will also hire a security company to keep trespassers out.

They're also going to reach out to the Canadian Brownfield Network, to ask for expert advise for brownfield management and remediation.

Councillor Karrie Porter introduced the motion, and it was passed by council last night.
