Frank Campion mandating policy to put Canadian goods first when it comes to how the city buys

Action being taken by the City of Welland to support local and national industries, while Canada works with the US to avoid potential tariffs.

Using Strong Mayor Powers, Frank Campion is mandating an immediate temporary procurement policy by the city to put Canadian goods first.

It'll apply to goods most affected by tariffs, while ensuring compliance with applicable trade agreements and legislation.

The city adds its legal department will identify potential legal risks, compliance issues and mitigation strategies.

This temporary procurement policy takes effect immediately.
